How Much Raw Food Should I Feed?

When it comes to raw feeding, getting the portion right is key to a happy, healthy pup. While every dog is different, a good rule of paw is to feed 2–5% of their body weight in raw food per day. The exact amount depends on how active they are (and whether they’ve been sneakily hoovering up the cat’s dinner).

Quick Guide:

  • Trying to trim a few kilos? Stick closer to 2% of body weight per day.
  • Average doggo energy? 3% usually does the trick.
  • Lean and speedy? Go for 4%.
  • Working hard or highly active doggo? You’re in 5% territory.

So... How Active Is Your Dog?

Here’s a quick way to work it out:

Activity  Description % of Body Weight

Light Snoozy seniors or recovering couch potatoes. 2%
Average Walks and a bit of play—nothing wild. 3%
High Daily long walks and full-on play sessions. 4%
Working Herding, agility, police work—basically a four-legged athlete. 5%

How Often Should I Feed?

We recommend splitting the daily amount into two meals. It’s easier on the tummy, reduces the risk of bloat in bigger breeds, and helps stop those guilt-inducing begging stares between meals. Got a hectic schedule? Once a day is okay too—just make sure your dog’s getting the right daily total.
